Young Person Therapeutic Support Worker - Hertfordshire - 20 hour contract
Do you aspire to make a positive impact on the lives of children, young people and families? Would you love to make a difference and provide support to young people, empowering them to address short and long term challenges?
Are you a professional who would you like to be part of a team that reduces problems and risks and, in some cases, help to make sure that children can remain with their family?
If this sounds like you and you want a role that really makes a difference to others – this could be the role you are searching for!
We are looking for motivated, hands on and dedicated support workers to join our experienced team working with the whole system around the young person including Social Workers, health professionals and their families.
This could be working with young people who display particularly challenging behaviours or maybe a young person who has a disability and requires some assistance with personal care or providing practical advice, emotional support, training and assistance with the goal of enabling young people to lead an independent and comfortable life in the community.
The packages we cover could be a few hours each week or regular more intensive support that could be covering longer hours or daily.
You will need high level inter-personal skills to work collaboratively with the children in a family centred approach and be able to demonstrate effective practice in varying situations.
This position is based in Hertfordshire. You will travel to visit the families and sometimes you will take the young people out into the community. Please note that travel will be required in and around the county for this role. Mileage is covered after the first 10 miles of your journey.
What you need to apply:
The children we support ask that their carers are reliable, fun and friendly!
Experience in a relevant area is desirable but you need to be friendly with a professional approach and flexibility to deal with different situations. You will possess skills to encourage and develop young people to reach their full potential.
A flexible approach to working hours to cover some evening and weekend support packages is essential.
You will need to pass an enhanced DBS for this position. If you already have this and are on the updating service we could get you working for us ASAP!
